Connecting Antenna to Receiver
A homemade radio antenna can help improve reception. Radio users can make homemade antennae by following a few basic steps. Use wire cutters to cut some single-strand wire anywhere between 60 and feet long. Wind the wire into a coil. Wind the wire around a flat object that has a diameter of around 6 to 8 inches. Form a flat coil and avoid crossing the wire.
Am antenna hook up
I don’t know if I had it hooked up correctly before so I just wanted to check and make sure. The first picture is the antenna connection block and the second picture is how I have the antennas hooked up with the FM dipole on the right hooked up to the ohm spot and the AM loop connected to the AM and GND spots. I hope this is right. Are my current connections correct? Also do I have the black and white wires of the AM antenna on the right spots?
Thanks for any help.
AM antenna performance was also a bit better than the AM loop antenna that came with my receiver. Antenna orientation for the AM band seemed more critical than with the FM band, however; I consider the reception good for this type of antenna/5().
This wikiHow teaches you how to select and set up an antenna for your TV. Steps Preparing to Connect 1 Determine your television’s antenna connector type. Virtually every TV has an antenna input on the back or side; this is where you’ll plug in the antenna. There are two main versions of this input: Coaxial RF – Resembles a threaded cylinder with a hole in the middle.
This type of connector is the standard for most modern TVs. IEC – Resembles a smooth cylinder with a smaller cylinder inside of it.
ANTENNAS FOR HAM TRANSMITTERS
You are transforming the 4-conductor telephone cable into a loop with 4 turns of wire. My home-made circuit continuity tester has both a beeper and a light that come on when the circuit is closed. Twist the two long wires together so that they have approximately 2 turns per inch. Watch out for kinking. Build a base for your antenna out of wood, plastic pipe, or other insulating material. Or, depending on the location, you could hang the antenna from a ceiling.
The AM loop antenna needs to connect between the terminals marked as “AM ANT” and “GND” on the rear top right corner of the amp. This is the normal configuration for a loop antenna.
Olive As a long-time radio enthusiast, I had read about the legendary Panasonic RF for several years before ever seeing one. Strong claims to be sure. It also has an excellent FM tuner. Few radios remain at the top of a short list of favorites and since the RF is arguably as well-respected as any portable for AM performance I wanted to bring the review into a modern context. This is an update of my original review written more than 14 years ago.
Many new radios have emerged, many with decidedly mediocre performance, but a few with superb performance and it seemed like a good time to report on how the RF fares against modern competition. The earliest production units had a so-called olive color front panel…most units have a gray panel. I chose one which needed a bit of work and which was available at a good price.
When it arrived, it looked really miserable…much dirtier than I would have guessed from the pictures, and it smelled badly of cigarette smoke. It was also a bit bigger and definitely more solid than I had imagined. It functioned erratically but seemed to be pretty sensitive on AM, which is what I had hoped for. However, all the controls were intermittent and erratic and dial calibration was further off on most bands than I deemed normal.

AM radio reception can be a little tricky, given its highly directional nature. However, the characteristics of a well-built loop antenna and a commercially purchased unit are mainly cosmetic.
Troubleshoot your antenna One thing I want to stress: If one antenna can get five channels, you are not going to suddenly get 25 channels with a more expensive antenna. Now, how do you see which shows are playing? Fortunately, there is an online channel guide called Titan TV. You can view this on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Titan TV channel guide website When you click that, a popup will appear.
You can repeat the process if you are close to two broadcast areas. The next time you visit this site, your settings will be there. Your broadcast TV guide! You have several options. You can use one antenna per TV kind of a pain , get a distribution amplifier to distribute the signal to each TV from one antenna, or use a Tablo. Here are some distribution amplifiers on Amazon that I recommend:
Best ways to hook up an fm antenna onto a stereo receiver?
I have four Infinity stereo speakers connected to it which makes for good sound in my living room. I do not have an antenna connected to my receiver to pull in stereo stations; I can only pick up a few. I have a nice entertainment cabinet which holds my receiver; vcr; and stereo TV. An antenna that’s not super expensive. If not are those T shaped flat wired antennas still being made which I could probably connect to my receiver and secure the antenna to the back of my entertainment cabinet so it wouldn’t be seen?

History[ edit ] Drawing from Marconi’s patent showing his first monopole antennas, consisting of suspended metal plates u,w attached to the transmitter left and receiver right , with the other side grounded E. Later he found that the plates were unnecessary and a suspended wire was adequate. Marconi’s first monopole transmitter One of Marconi’s early monopole antennas at his Poldhu, Cornwall transmitting station, , consisting of a small metal plate suspended from a wooden arm with a long wire running down to the transmitter in the building.
The monopole antenna was invented in and patented by radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi during his historic first experiments in radio communication. He began by using dipole antennas invented by Heinrich Hertz consisting of two identical horizontal wires ending in metal plates. He found by experiment that if instead of the dipole, one side of the transmitter and receiver was connected to a wire suspended overhead, and the other side was connected to the Earth, he could transmit for longer distances.
For this reason the monopole is also called a Marconi antenna, although Alexander Popov independently invented it at about the same time. However, the radiated power varies with elevation angle, with the radiation dropping off to zero at the zenith of the antenna axis. It radiates vertically polarized radio waves. Showing the monopole antenna has the same radiation pattern over perfect ground as a dipole in free space with twice the voltage A monopole can be visualized right as being formed by replacing the bottom half of a vertical dipole antenna c with a conducting plane ground plane at right-angles to the remaining half.
If the ground plane is large enough, the radio waves from the remaining upper half of the dipole a reflected from the ground plane will seem to come from an image antenna b forming the missing half of the dipole, which adds to the direct radiation to form a dipole radiation pattern.
A Dynamite Antenna for an AM Radio
Back in the day, radios were AM only, and if you wanted to listen to your favorite programs you had to have an outside antenna. With the advent of the transistor radio, there soon ceased to be any way for you to connect your radio to an antenna. Most of the time, admittedly, the internal antenna worked well enough anyway. But not for everybody.
Feb 11, · I have a Craig CR radio at my desk at work. It’s surrounded by a metal shelf work on the desk top. As a result, it picks up only 1 or 2 FM stations and no AM stations.
Am Antenna Hook Up You likely will need an antenna. I believe that most antennas will connect into the same connector on the TV. Learn how to connect one antenna to multiple TVs. I am aware I would need two amplifiers one for each TV if it will work. Fox Cities TV I am on a very low disability with a rare terminal metastatic tumor. To get surround, I was told to get any standard TV antenna, connect this. As a result, it picks up only 1 or 2.
